I will start this blog with an old adage that goes like "an educated person can be literate, but not all literate can be educated."
I believe you might have heard this adage and even if you have not then there is no such problem because you have come to the right place. Well, my today's blog is based on this only "Literate vs. Educated"
So aren't you curious to know about what exactly a literate and an educated can be like? Yes. But before I start this blog let me tell you that there is some purpose behind writing this blog. The topic I have chosen today to write on has much significance in itself.
So let's get started now.
Literate vs. Educated
Guys, every day we encounter so many people in our life. Some people are optimistic, spreading positive vibes around, etc. and some are biased, naysayers, or you may call them the living heck in the society, right!
Now if we look at the optimistic people then you all might say that they are educated ( because they think good for themselves, for others, as well as for the betterment of the society. And it doesn't matter whether they are literate or not). On the other hand, biased people automatically get the tag of uneducated even if they are literate. Isn't it? Do you agree with me?
To be very honest this is it. No matter how many degrees you have obtained, how many books you have read, how much-accredited college you have gone to, how much cool you try to appear, and how much you show off your so-called "luxurious life" to degrade people if you are still being an armchair critic; criticizing people, doing unjust in the society, judging people on the basis of their CASTE, CREED, RACE, COLOR, BODY SIZE, RELIGION, and many more social evils you can think of, then you are highly an uneducated person living in the society who can only earn detest feelings of people. (I ask what is the use of such degrees if you can't think another way around?)
Every person needs to understand that being literate means the ability to read and write which every tom, dick, and harry can do. But being educated means you need to think and have the guts to say wrong to WRONG.
Therefore, you need not to be literate to be educated. (It simply means an illiterate person can also be an educated one). You don't believe me? OK, so the best example here is the former chief minister (CM) of Tamil Nadu, K. Kamaraj. He also was illiterate (couldn't read and write) but he had great knowledge that astonished many experts.
Now I would like to mention a famous line by Swami Vivekananda. He said, "we have graduated but we have not educated. "
This simply means that degrees won't make you educated. You need to alter your perception, and thinking about people and society. Therefore try to imbibe some moral values in life, something helpful that will help you in the future.
Remember one thing, literate people are everywhere with degrees, good marks, etc. But educated are rare.
Conclude
Here I conclude this blog by saying that literacy might give you some amount of power to live, but education provides you the power to nurture that power whole life to live a beautiful life. Education caters to the overall development of an individual whereas literacy is only about being able to read and write.
Now you can think what you are; a literate or an educated or both? Let me also know in the comment box. :)
